You know this thumbnail pic reminds me of a dream i had about the end of times, my dream had everything grey like a winter that never stops and fires/smoke, dead trees and buildings ruined. Flooding everywhere, tornados, hurricanes constantly threatening to take lives here and there, it was so bad that it woke me up and everyone that i loved left me and i was all alone with some other strangers with me to survive.

I used to play this song every day at work. Walking with a weed whacker in my hands, feeling the breeze in my hair, the fresh air filling my lungs, with the somber, unfortunately intoxicating thoughts of a sweet release from living. 300 pounds, alcoholic, an upbringing of psychological trauma, and more mistakes I care to admit. Many of them truly awful. I longed for death, but a week or so before, my brother who was living in Europe called me. First time I'd spoken to him in 6 months. I had decided to end my life after one last vacation on a lake we'd visited since we were kids. Spent a week up there, fully immersed in living like I was on borrowed time, and I thought I was. The sun on my face, the view of the water was all made so much sweeter knowing it was the last time I'd ever be there. It was peaceful. I knew I was ready to go. To be free of my suffering. Free from my own mind. And then my brother called me, and every desire to be free turned into a terrified, desperate resolve to stay alive. Honestly, I hated it, but I love that kid man. I couldn't spread my pain to him. The next 7 years where an up and down of thinking I was OK, realizing I wasn't, and just fighting to keep the demons at bay. I was 21 when I decided to stay alive to spare those I love. I'm 28 now. And hearing this song again, the desire for the release of Death has transformed into defiance for the lies telling me I should give in. My scars of the past are no longer mortal spiritual wounds, but armor that shields me from future burdens. My longing for death is now an overwhelming desire to fight for my health. I'm 10 months sober, 60 pounds lighter. My fight isn't over. But I'm winning. I'm killing the wolves, and I'm going to survive. And when I'm at my best, I'm going to help others fight their wolves. And they're going to win too. Keep the wolves away friends. Be the warrior sent to save you. I believe in you. God bless.

I miss you dad

I saw this movie shortly after my mother passed away. I remember her not a year earlier watching it but I wasnt too interested in it myself. Movies just had not been a thing I enjoyed watching on TV anymore with too many breaks inbetween. But I was always interested in the story itself. Now I am looking back on the time, just before the pandemic and I realize that despite her flaws how much time I wasted not spending with my mom because I was too occupied with feeding my ADHD ridden head. I wish I had realized this sooner. But now, that cancer has taken her just at the start of covid, its too late. Even now as Im writing this, Im still brought to tears. Its been a few years. And I just cant get over it. She wasnt the same person anymore that I got to know. The strong independant woman suddenly reduced to a weak and helpless girl almost. And I had no way to help her. Not in my state. Not with how my ADHD made me behave, untreated as it was as I didnt even know I had it then. And ever since then, even during the time that I was far more in pain over her passing, I listened to this music. The poem. The movie. It means a lot to me. Once more into the fray, Into the last good fight Ill ever know. I wont give up. And I wont back down. Im doing better now, have meds and all. And even tho Im struggling Im still here. And I refuse to simply exist anymore and accept the world for what it is. Despite all your flaws and the fights we had. I love you mom. And I will forever love you.

This reminds me of a time, many years ago, when I went to my grandmothers for tea and she served me her homemade stew ……. She spent all day cooking it and was so excited when I arrived there to see her ……. She brought my stew out but because times were hard and she didn’t have much money she couldn’t give me any crusty bread to dip in there 😞 I told her not to worry and head butted her and tipped the stew down down the toilet! Just goes to show that no matter how hard times are, a bread roll with a pot of stew is very important in life
